Jed Henry is making a complete series of Japanese woodblock prints, using the classic ukiyo-e style. Ukiyo-e, or “Floating World culture,” was a tradition of printmaking in ancient Japan, where woodblock printmakers would handmake images of heroes, villains, and monsters that touched on genres from satire and romance to horror, and more. Jed, being a lover of video games, has transformed his favorite characters for this art form, trading modern costuming for medieval, and the like. We like it so much, we’re transforming it into our Project of the Day.
