Four weeks ago, Steph Kesey and Erin Pollock launched a Kickstarter project to buy the 3,000 pounds of wax and Crisco they needed in order to complete a surreal video installation called Melting Bodies.
“To people who didn’t ‘get it’ it sounded obscure, even strange…we were SO NERVOUS!” they reflected in a recent project update. “A lot was on the line for us: we knew the success of this fundraising period would determine whether this artwork would exist or not. And because of YOU, the answer is: YES!”
340 backers pledge upwards of $45,000 to the girls’ project, meaning that their artwork will be surreally real very soon. Above, they stand triumphantly in front of a wall in their studio which lists out every single one of their project backers.
