Melissa O’Brien and her Swedish penpal, Lena, have been writing letters to each other for 36 years.
Through adolescence and adulthood, children and families, joys and crises, and on into middle age, Melissa and Lena have stayed in touch without ever having met.
Now O’Brien and her son are setting out to visit Lena in Sweden and make a documentary about their wildly unlikely relationship. Their Kickstarter project was just successfully funded today — congratulations! Looking forward to next summer and the long-awaited meeting of two old friends.
