17 year old US Olympic Boxer Clarissa “T-Rex” Shields. Watch her first match on Monday! Oh, and check out this documentary about T-Rex’s journey to become the youngest woman to ever box in the Olympics.
The Olympic City is a photography project by Jon Pack and Gary Hustwit (Helvetica, Urbanized) that examines the legacy of the Olympic Games in different host cities around the world. Hosting the Games is a chance for a city to show off the best side of itself, but when the tide of attention, acclaim, and tourists has passed — what’s next? From successfully retrofitted game sites to structures that go unused for decades, they’ll document the successes, failures, and in-betweens of the post-Olympic spectacle, as well as the lives of those whose neighborhoods have been permanently transformed by the event. It’s our Project of the Day.
