  2. The Extraordinaires get crafty.
The Extraordinaires blend colorful songwriting with a helluva live show, but their real claim to fame is releasing albums as — get ready — miniature, handcrafted storybooks.
Their last three releases have all come bound instead actual books, which feature everything from original artwork and lyric sheets to elaborately crafted fake library cards. The dudes have always put 110% into their projects, so their fourth official release is bound to be a doozy. (They’re even learning new instruments, according to their project description.)
Today we’re givin’ em a spin as our Project of the Day.

  3. A couple of weeks ago, Erica Hampton launched a super tiny project ($20 goal!) to create a series of decorative origami spheres called Kusudami. The premise was pretty straight forward. For a $5 pledge, get a homemade Kusudami — a reward level that proved unexpectedly popular, to the tune of 25 total backers. A bit more work than they anticipated, maybe, but hopefully it’s as fun for them as it is for us when we receive colorful images of pretty paper piles, like the above, in their project updates. We’re smiling.

  4. You Smell … like “Lemon”! Or “Sweet Seduction”! Or “Divine”!
You Smell Soap is looking out for us — they’re a tiny soap company making yummy smelling substances for people who like their design with a little bit of humor and high-quality product. Isn’t that everybody?! Also, this is a nice, passive aggressive way to comment on somebody’s personal hygiene. We like that, too.
