Something’s not quite right.
Ethan Turpin makes hybrid scenes from century-old stereographs, digitally collaging to create new stories and then putting the cards back together by hand.
He calls his manipulations “stereocollisions,” juxtaposing images of the industrial revolution with scenes of humans and animals at play. His current Kickstarter project will produce a new body of work in the series, based on images discovered in the archives of the California Museum of Photography. This century-spanning mashup is our Project of the Day!
