1. Wellen is a clothing brand for the type of dude who likes to ride a few waves in the morning and then class it up at a nice restaurant in the evening. Since 2007, they’ve been working on the Carefree and Classic categories of the brand with board shorts and sweaters, but now they’re adding something a little swankier with new Gentleman line, featuring blazers, oxford shirts, and more. Fancy! They’ll even make a custom bowtie for you out of your own fabric. Of course this classy surf swag is our Project of the Day.

  2. The LA-based label Wellan started out as a couple of friends making surf boards for each other, evolved into a clothing company selling well-designed t-shirts out the back of a car, and now — most recently — has become a full blown independent label with a complete line of tank tops, board shorts, and sweatshirts, all in the name of the fashionably inclined surfer. Woah! But what they’ve always really wanted to do was create a collection of high-end gear for the time when said surfer must, inevitably, go suave. Enter: A Gentleman’s Surf Collection. Lookin’ good, bros.

  3. Kate Sikorski is an artist and surfer based in Southern California. Her Kickstarter project centers around a series of large scale mixed-media drawings of Muslim-American women surfers, wearing special bathing garments designed to preserve their modesty. The pieces will be painted on reclaimed or salvaged wood — resulting in a fascinating tension between the varied, chaotic textures of each physical work, and the necessary constraint exemplified by their subject matter. We’re intrigued!
